This year I have been really stressing the importance of oral health and a healthy smile with my 6 year old daughter. Since her adult teeth are starting to come in now, it’s even more important that she keeps her teeth nice and clean with brushing and flossing.
Even though she’s been doing great at brushing and flossing daily, I have completely dropped the ball on having a good mouthwash available for her to put that final touch on her daily oral cleaning. Shame on me!
Growing up, I always struggled with having cavities even though I brushed my teeth every day. To be completely honest, I rarely used mouthwash, if ever. If I would have used mouthwash regularly, I bet you I could have saved my parents from making multiple trips and spending lots of money at the dentist for drillings and fillings. That is definitely something I never want my daughter to have to deal with. Not that going to the dentist to fill a cavity is terrible, but it certainly isn’t fun.So, with the promise to get my daughter started on the right oral health track, I headed out to my local Target and purchased the new Colgate Total mouthwash. You can check out the rest of my shopping experience at Target on Google Plus.
I decided to go with the Colgate Total Mouthwash in the Spearmint Burst Flavor. I thought it would be a good one to try, especially since Spearmint is my favorite flavor of gum to chew. My daughter always swipes my gum to chew a piece, so I knew she would enjoy the flavor as well. I also picked up two new toothbrushes (one for her and one for me) to help get my oldest excited about her entire teeth cleaning regime. I mean, it’s a pink tooth brush. How could she not love it?!One of the main reasons I picked Colgate Total as our preferred mouthwash is because it is alcohol free. That’s a huge bonus, especially when giving it to children who may not spit all of the mouthwash out of their mouth.
We love the taste of the Spearmint Blast. The Spearmint does burn your mouth a bit, but it’s not bad. It really made our mouths feel clean and fresh, just like it was supposed to do!
Here we are swishing our Colgate Total Mouthwash together. See, you can even make memories with your kids during your morning oral health routine. Love it!Every morning since purchasing Colgate Total mouthwash, my daughter has faithfully used it without me even telling her to. Success! And get this– right after she got done rinsing out her Colgate Total Mouthwash this morning, she realized that one of her top baby teeth (tooth #3) was loose. Woohoo! So, to celebrate this exciting loose tooth occasion, I made this cute hanging tooth pillow so once tooth number three comes out, she can leave her tooth hanging on her bedroom door. This tooth pillow will be a great alternative to leaving her tooth under her pillow. That way, the tooth will not get lost or the Tooth Fairy won’t accidentally wake her up in the middle of the night. I of course blogged about how to make a tooth pillow, so be sure to check out my tutorial so you can make your very own too. I know the Tooth Fairy will appreciate it!Look at that big goofy grin. She’s not excited at all about her new pink “grown up” Colgate toothbrush and new Colgate Total mouthwash, is she? I think we have gained a brand new Colgate fan in the family!
