I can safely say that summer is here! With my oldest daughter being out of school for a few months, I am always looking for fun, educational activities for her to do to keep her little mind and body busy.
So, when I saw the opportunity to make a fun project with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Soil and Shake and Feed, I jumped on it. My daughter and I enjoyed making these cute (and super girly) toyariums!
Aren’t they fabulous? I would love to show you how I did it, so here we go!
Go ahead and gather all needed supplies.
- Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix
- Miracle-Gro Moistuire Control Shake & Feed
- Glass bowl(s)
- Buttons or Rocks
- Small plant
- Spoon for digging in the dirt
- Small Toys your child will love to look at!
Take your glass bowl and pour the buttons in the bottom. We went with buttons because they are bright and adorable, but if you have rocks, feel free to pour them in there instead!
Take some Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Soil and fill the bowl up half way.
Take the spoon and hollow out a hole in the middle of the dirt for the plant.
I purchased a plant that I could “split up” since my glass bowls were little. The plant I purchased split easily into 3 pieces.
Put your plants in the hole made by the spoon and even the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Soil around the plant, making sure it’s secure in the soil. Sprinkle the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Shake and Feed on top of the soil, or you can mix it into the soil before you put your plant in the soil.
Here comes the funnest part– the toys!! Place those girly toys in the glass bowl and admire at how cute it is!
I love how these turned out and my daughter is super excited about taking care of the plants! Ever since we did this project, she has asked me several questions about how plants get food and water and how they stay alive in general. This was a fun and educational project all wrapped into one. I recommend this project to any child!
This project has sparked something in my daughter and I to learn more about gardening. Maybe next summer we will make a bigger step by taking on even bigger fun garden projects! Maybe we will move on to an in-ground veggie garden for next year! I’ve heard Miracle-Gro has a great product called LiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit. It looks like an easy product to use. And I am all about easy!
Another great thing about Miracle-Gro is that they have great resources for new gardeners, like The Gro Project, where you can share your story about your growth as a gardener and get support from other gardeners.
Check out this Gro Project Video for more information about becoming a part of this exciting endeavor!
Following Miracle-Gro on Pinterest is another great resource, where you can see and share gardening ideas with others!
Miracle-Gro has great products that are the best in quality. We used the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control products for this project and I was really impressed with it all. I will definitely be using Miracle-Gro for all of my future gardening projects.
