I just found an album of pictures from when I was in college over 10 years ago.. TEN! When I was flipping though the pages, all these wonderful memories of that time flooded through my mind. College was seriously one of the best times of my life! Would you like to see a few photos of what college was like for me? I’d be happy to share. 🙂
Forgive the quality of the photos, but let me introduce you to the lovely ladies who lived on the same wing as I during my first year of college. This group of amazing ladies contain some of my closest friends! See the girl sticking her tongue out and the girl who has her arm around her? I am getting ready to introduce those two goofballs in just a second.. so hang tight!
This is me (right) and my very first college roommate, Beth (left). We are still the greatest of friends to this day! She was in my wedding, I was in hers and even though we are over a thousand miles apart, we pick up right where we left off when we see each other. Such wonderful and fond memories we have, and I will cherish them forever!
And here we are again with another fine lady who was a part of our goofy circle! This is Chelsi and the three of us were like little peas in a pod! So many late night study hang outs together, sharing snacks, ordering pizza deliverly after curfew and cutting it up!
College was such a special time for me. It was a time where I left my parents and clung to my wonderful new lifelong friends. It was years of learning, laughing, and fun! Now, there were times where I would get homesick and miss my parents. When that would happen, my parents always knew what was up and then a care package would show up soon after filled with all sorts of goodies (FOOD!) and maybe an item or two from home (pictures, a toy from childhood) that would always cheer me up! I know that I always loved getting care packages from friends and family. It’s just nice to know that someone out there is thinking about you.
Fast forward through over 10 years, a marriage and three kids. Let’s just say those days of late night study sessions and dorm room chow downs at 2 in the morning are long gone for me! Even though I miss those times, I get the honor of blessing those college kids who I know with a care package or two during their time away. I have a family friend who is finishing up her last year of college AND planning a wedding set f0r next year. I remember planning a wedding while going to school. It can be a lot to take on! There won’t be much sleep or downtime– not to mention funds will be tight!
So, I plan on using Amazon to put together my little college friend’s care package. Boy do I wish we had Amazon back in our day. It sure would have made sending and receiving care packages so much easier! Now I know Amazon has had their Wish List for quite some time, which is an awesome feature of the site! What’s even cooler is that they just launched a new Wish List Feature where friends and family can add items to their Wish List just by replying to a tweet containing an Amazon link with the hashtag #AmazonWishList. Amazon will take that tweet and add that item to their Wish List! Then, friends and family can search for the person on Amazon and see what they are wishing for, purchase it and send it right to them without even having to step foot into store or post office. Nice!
For my college friend, I am going to put a little Amazon care package together including some yummy KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Cups. These things rock because they are a perfect dorm room food item. When you’re ready to eat you just pop the lid, add water, stick it in the microwave and in 3.5 minutes, dinner is served! Also, a care package is not complete without some protein. Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts are a nutrient dense snack that will help her get through those long nights of studying and wedding planning!
I added the KRAFT Mac & Cheese Cups to the Wishlist on Twitter. It was super easy to do!
Here’s my college friend holding my son. She’s like family to me and I want to make sure she knows that she’s thought of and loved while she’s away! I am so happy and glad that Amazon makes it easy to do, and even more so now that they are offering this new Amazon Wishlist feature with Twitter. Love it!
Now, be sure to check out Twitter tomorrow, October 15th from 11-12pm EST because they are having an AWESOME #AmazonWishList party where they will be telling you all about this cool new Twitter feature and offering deals on products you can add to your Wishlist! They will also be giving away prizes during the party– 10 new Kindles to be exact! Annddd…. if you add the two items I mentioned (who doesn’t love Mac & Cheese and peanuts?) to your Wishlist together, you’ll receive a $1 off those two items when you purchase them together. Sweet!
Use #AmazonWishList or #AmazonHasIt during the party so you don’t miss out. See you on Twitter tomorrow!
