Gum— one of the necessities in life. If I do not have gum nearby at all times, that is a major precursor for disaster. Seriously. Gum keeps me fresh when I need it and it helps me focus throughout the day. I try to make it a habit to always have it with me, because I certainly miss it when I don’t! So, to help with this, I made a duct tape hanging gum pouch that will allow me to keep it hooked with me wherever I go!
Wrigley’s Extra® now has these new 35-stick packs that come in a recycled plastic container. They’re amazing! They’re super durable too. No more ripped up gum packages in my posesssion anymore, whoop whoop!
They can be found in the checkout lines at Target… which is obviously one of my favorite places to shop. Woohoo! They also have a Cartwheel coupon where you can save 10% for the entire month of February!
Each pack has over 2 packs of gum in one container, which means they are perfect for having to share with those around you! It’s OK to show it off and share, because there’s enough for everyone!
I made the duct tape pouch so it could easily be hooked to my bag that I carry with me when I am working away from home.
I can also hook it to my key ring when I am not carrying a bag. It’s perfect! Let me show you how to make one for yourself!
Duct Tape Hanging Gum Pouch
For this you will need: 2-3 rolls of coordinating duct tape, some scissors and a bag hook (that can be found at your local crafting store). You will measure out four strips of two colors of tape in a six-inch length, making sure to overlap each strip as you measure them out on a cutting board (I used a quilting cutting mat). Adhere both colors to each other (sticky side to sticky side), and square it off with your scissors. Wrap the strip around your package of gum, making sure the end of the front side hits below where you open the package of Extra® gum. The back side can go all the way up the back. Fold in the sides like you’re wrapping a gift, and put a strip of tape on each side (your 2nd or 3rd color).
Before you put down the second side of tape, cut a thin strip the width of your hook (mine was about an inch and a half), thread it through the hook and put it on the side of the pouch. Place your second piece of tape over that so it will stay put while hanging on whatever you have it hooked on.
This is a simple project that doesn’t involve a lot of measuring or cutting, which is the kind of craft that I really love! I love that I can choose whatever design of duct tape that I want to fit my personality! I think this would also be a great gift for friends so they can have their own Extra® gum wherever they go!
