Well, my New Year’s Resolution of becoming healthier had to start early, because I got really sick. Like, really, really sick.
Right before Christmas, a lightbulb turned on in my head, and I realized my diet of fast food had been making me so sick for the past 2 or so years. From the day that lightbulb went off, I new some things had to change in my life or I would be living a short one.
So, I decided to first, give up fast food, and make gradual changes to make my health better. 2016 is the year to find myself and make myself more of a priority. I need to be healthy for me. For my kids. For my family. I want to share with you what I am doing to get myself healthier, and I hope this encourages you to do the same if you were in the same place as me.
Tips for a Healthier Me (and YOU!)
1.Cut out the junk!
STOP eating the nasty fast food. I truly believe this was the #1 contributor to my intestinal issues. Once I cut out the processed drive-thru addiction, those issues pretty much disappeared over night! It was not worth it to me to be so sick every single day. I am so thankful I cut those out cold turkey. This leap has helped me to make gradual changes in my diet at home, like cutting out junk food. That’s been a little harder to do, but at least those foods I am eating aren’t as bad as those fast food places. Plus I am saving money, so that’s a plus too!
2.Drink more Water
Since cutting out fast food and drinking more water, I have noticed a significant decrease in swelling and an increase in my daily energy. I very rarely just laze around, tired and feeling blah. I now feel well, and I can keep up with life a lot better. Your cells crave that H2O…so drink it! I’ve been told to drink half my body weight in ounces of water. I am not quite there yet, but I am working on it!
I started exercising and gave myself a goal to walk at least 3 times a week. Having a consistent exercise routine is so good for our mental and physical health. It’s amazing how much better I feel after a nice walk around the neighborhood. I look forward to it when I can do it!
4.Take those vitamins!
A lot of our diets lack the proper nutrients our bodies need. Thank God for vitamins because they come to our rescue and quickly make up what we are lacking. I recently picked up someNature Made® Vitamins for heart health and cellular metabolism. Fish Oil is always a great thing to take to keep that ticker running, and of course, B-12 is great for energy. Both are just what I need to get myself on the healthy track. I am so glad I can easily get those at Walmart!Nature Made® also has a 30-day Healthy Habit Builder Challenge Website where you can be encouraged, challenged and rewarded to create healthy habits in your life. I am so looking forward to implementing this in my regime, and I hope you’ll do the same!
