Friday night the fam and I adventured to Pizza Hut for an evening of food, fun and bonding! My kids are getting to the age where we can all sit down in a restaurant and enjoy each other’s company.. so when I told them we were venturing out to Pizza Hut to help support literacy, they were pumped!
As homeschoolers, we’ve been doing the Book It! program this year with Pizza Hut, which is a great incentive for early readers. I love this added element of literacy support that they’re doing with Fruit Shoot, so we wanted to make sure we supported it as well!
For every Fruit Shoot purchased at Pizza Hut, a portion is donated to First Book, an non-profit organization that helps support literacy with children! First Book give books, learning materials and other essentials to children in need. What an amazing thing to support!
With having 3 kids and homeschooling, I know how important it is to encourage and support my children to read. Currently, my 4 year old is wanting to learn to read, so we are in the thick of reading education. My oldest child has struggled as a reader, so to get her involved in programs where she can help contribute to other people’s success helps her to stay motivated and excited about reading. It also doesn’t hurt to include my youngest, who is a little too young to read, but loves to carry books around and look at the pictures! This definitely sparks a love of reading early, and I am A-OK with that!
So, if you’re planning to take the family out this week for dinner, I highly suggest stopping by your local Pizza Hut and purchasing a Fruit Shoot or two alongside their delicious pizza. The money they collect for your Fruit Shoot purchase goes to something amazing to help fight literacy– which is a win/win for all of us!
