Meal planning has become a big deal in my household lately. It has really helped us cut our budget and focus on becoming more financially stable. It also cuts down on waste, because everything we get at the grocery has a purpose. No more purchasing thing without a plan and then letting it go bad.. Everything has a plan and that equals more money in our pockets each month!
Every meal and EVERY SNACK gets planned out for every single day of the week. If you have kids, you know that snacks are important, so they have to be available at all times! This week, I came up with 3 really fun and really easy snack ideas that the kiddos love. They are easy and great for the kids to get involved in making. Let’s review what they are, shall we?
First, all snack ideas stemmed from these Hiland Dairy products. We planned the snacks out and got all the ingredients that we needed, thanks to Hiland!
Snack #1 is a 3-ingredient Strawberry Chocolate Protein Smoothie. My kids love this snack and request it EVERY WEEK. It’s one bag of frozen strawberries, 1 cup of milk, and one large scoop of chocolate protein powder. Blend it until smooth and pour into a cup. Serve with a spoon or a straw, depending on its consistency! You can add more milk to it and blend if you want it more like a milk and less like a smoothie/soft ice cream. My kids love it both ways, they aren’t picky!
Snack #2 is actually one of my childhood favorites that I have been impressing upon my kiddos. Cottage cheese with fruit toppings. We used the Hiland cottage cheese and canned mandarin oranges, pineapples and pears.
So yummy! I could eat this every day, and I am sure my kids would say the same.
Snack #3 is very easy, but very delicious! Scoop a few scoops of your favorite Hiland dip, then place several pretzel sticks in top and enjoy! We love the Southwestern Dip that Hiland makes. As my oldest says, “It has a little kick to it!” A delicious kick if I must say so myself!
Hiland is has such a well-rounded and balanced line of products, and a lot of protein, which is important for me and the kiddos! Such the perfect compliment to any snack or meal.
Here’s a cute video of the kids making their snacks. They really enjoyed getting involved with making them. It’s very empowering to allow our kids to see how important it is to have a balanced snack and how they’re made! This can mean that snack time can some day be completely independent of mom help, especially as they get older!
