I recently watched a video about ancient bread-making practices and how beneficial it is to have bread made using natural fermentation. I know fermented foods have been a really big thing once again and it is something that has definitely piqued my and my husband’s interest, so I thought why not!
I liken making sourdough bread to having a science experiment on your kitchen counter. It’s actually great because my kids can participate and learn how to make things from scratch. It’s such a great thing for them to know where things come from and the history of how things were made.
Today is only day one in the sourdough starter process, and the recipe I am following is 5 days in total. It seems super easy to follow, so if you’d like to try it out, I will link the recipe I am using below. It is literally only FLOUR and WATER, some glass containers, plastic wrap, rubber bands and a little bit of elbow grease.
Give it a try and let me know how you do! Be sure to follow me on Facebook for my results. I am sure I will update my days there.
Have you ever made your own sourdough starter? Let me know in the comments below!
