Movie Night, Pillow Forts and Pop Secret Popcorn

Thanks, Pop Secret, for sponsoring our pillow fort making and movie watching!

movie night ideas

During the school year, Fridays are usually always a day of celebration for the whole family. That means the kiddos and daddy is home for the weekend and we can have a weekend to reconnect and spend time together as a family. This past Friday, I wanted to surprise my daughters with a pillow fort-making, movie and popcorn party as a kick off to the weekend. To say they were excited is an  understatement! We live in a pretty small house with 5 people, so pillow forts aren’t always an option because of a lack of space. But this week I made an exception and we set up the most awesomest pillow fort ever (according to my children)!

playing in a pillow fortSince it’s pretty well impossible to move furniture around in our 1,000 square foot home, we just used a little creativity and we built the fort off the couch that is seated straight across  from the TV. We took two chairs from the kitchen and draped a king sized sheet over the chairs and tucked it into the back of the couch. Then, we took two quilts (made by some pretty special family members) and draped them over the sheet so we would have enough blanket to drape to the floor on both sides.

Making a Pillow Fort

I would say they look pretty content and happy with their creation and they were ready for a family movie!

Pop Secret PopcornOf course, no movie is complete without some freshly popped popcorn. That’s where Pop Secret came to the rescue! I popped the girls some and put them in these cute Valentine’s Day mini buckets I found at the store for a buck a piece. They loved it!

The girls really loved their pillow fort, popcorn and movie. Pop Secret popcorn really is the bee’s knees. It’s so tasty! What’s even cooler is that they are offering a coupon for $1 off! And, if you visit their Facebook page and submit a pic of your pillow fort, you will be entered for the chance to win fun prizes!

So, what kinds of forts do you or your children build? Let me know in the comments below!

    Hi Nessa!
What a fun, neat idea!!! My kids are all grown up (I think you’re friends with Meagan, my oldest), but since Zoey, my granddaughter, is old enough to appreciate an awesome pillow fort and delicious popcorn, we can really have fun with this!! Speaking of popcorn, have you ever tried Pop Secret’s HomeStyle popcorn? It is so good! It reminds me of the popcorn my Dad made when I was young, before the invention of microwaves.
Thank you for this lovely article!
