How can I improve

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Pantene. All thoughts are my own!

I have a little confession to make– I hate talking about myself and sharing deep, personal stories about me.  I love blogging, I love creating recipes and crafts for you guys, I love, love, LOVE posting stories and memories of my children, but when it comes to posting anything about me, I just don’t do it. I get scared. And I feel that is really affecting the engagement of my blog. What do you think? Do you agree?

Despite how I have felt about myself, I made a commitment this summer to make my blog more personal. More raw. More real, More about my story, my personal passions and why I blog. I need to stop telling myself that what I have to say doesn’t matter. IT DOES. No more negative speak!

The first thing I wanted to do to meet my commitment goals was to actually have a good headshot to share on here and with those I am networking with. I take great photos of the things I share on my blog, but the picture I have been sharing with you all is not professional, at all!

This black and white photo is the one that’s been on my blog from the beginning and it just isn’t cutting it anymore. It was taken with my cell phone, in my bathroom. See the door hinges? Yea, not cool. It’s a true selfie.. and shouldn’t even be above the fold! Plus, you can’t even tell what color my hair is. For all you know, it’s dark brown! Well, it’s’s actually a light strawberry brown. Crazy, huh?

Last night, my husband helped me take some headshots using my DSLR (I have a Canon Rebel T3i in case you were wondering!). I used my daughter as a test subject for lighting and then gave my husband the camera to do the rest. She’s such a cheese. Now you know why I post pics of my kids all the time. They’re adorable!

I know there are wireless shutters out there that you can use if you’re taking your headshot by yourself, so that’s always an option when taking your own headshots, but since my husband was around I just recruited him for help. Isn’t he so nice?? 🙂

Vanessa Headshoot Edit 1

This headshot is the best out of the bunch as far as clarity goes, and I am thrilled to report that my hair is looking great too! As you can tell, I am a low-maintenece girl. I shower, I brush my hair and I go. I don’t blow dry, flat iron or curl unless I am going out on a hot date with my husband. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

pantene hair care line

For the past week or so, I switched to Pantene because I found a new-to-me shampoo, conditioner and spray at Walmart that promotes gives your hair keratin protection when you use it! I love how keratin tames my hair and helps give it strength. Plus, I also love the smell of Pantene. Always have, always will! My hair is usually frizzy and it just looks weird. Pantene has really taken all of that away for me. I really love the conditioner and the conditioning spray. It helps keep the frizzies at bay.

So, here’s to a new leaf and a new leap as far as my blog goes. What kind of things would you like to see here on the blog? More personal stories about who I am? More recipes? More crafts? I’d love your feedback below in the comments so I know I am doing my job right! I really want to connect with all of you, so please tell me what you think I should be doing more of. I really appreciate the feedback! 😉
