Thank you Nurses! {Plus a Giveaway}

This review was made possible by iConnect and Pampers. I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever met a nurse who just blew you away with the care they were giving you or a loved one? Do you have a nurse that you cannot thank enough for how awesome they are? Well, I am happy to say, I have!

thank a nurse

This is Dezra. Back in 2009, I had the pleasure of being her co-worker on the post-partum floor of our local hospital. I was so impressed with how she cared for her patients. We would work together as a team to care for mamas and their new babies. She would always treat them with respect, kindness and patience. She always had a great attitude, even through the 12 hour over-night shifts on the weekends. We have remained friends since we began working together. She’s such a blessing!

Fast forward 5 years, and enter another time where Dezra really shined as a nurse. She was my nurse when I had my son back in 2014. What I witnessed as an assistant to her back in 2009, I experienced as her patient in 2014. She took excellent care of me. When she came to care for me the weekend I had my son, she greeted me with the warmest, biggest hug. She made sure my pain was managed, she made sure all my needs were met. She never once complained, she always had a smile on her face and she was still the patient, kind nurse I remembered from 5 years earlier. Her bedside manner was truly a gift and I will always be grateful to her for the care she gave.

So, Dezra, I am nominating YOU to the Pampers Thank You Nurses Awards program! This program rewards nurses from post partum, labor and delivery and NICU departments with a scholarship to help them earn their Masters of Science in Nursing degree, if they so wish! I’ll never forget one particular nurse. Her name was Sophia. She helped me when I was in labor with my first son. She was so sweet and funny. I was so scared and stressed about giving birth, but she was very reassuring and motivating. She was very attentive and even stayed an hour past the end of her shift, because she wanted to be with me until I gave birth. I was pushing for almost three hours, the OBGYN told me that if I didn’t deliver after three hours, I would have to have a C-section. Sophia kept me going, I was exhausted after 14 hours of labor and not getting any sleep for the past 34+ hours. I’m sure that my baby boy would have been delivered safely if she wasn’t there, but she made it enjoyable, even when I was in pain. My son was in the NICU for the first couple days due to me having a fever when he was delivered (just a precaution). She was off for two days after I delivered, but she came to visit me and my baby. She really went above and beyond. Anyone to have her by their side during delivery is very lucky.
