2017: The Year of Simplicity

This year is the first year I am naming my year.  2017, for me, is the year of Simplicity.

My word of the year

I always felt like naming my year was dumb. I mean, I am just too awesome and cool for that, right? Wrong.

Naming my year for the first time, ever, has been absolutely amazing. I have never felt more clarity in my life than in 2017. I have let go of the unnecessary things, the stressful things, the clutter– and tightened my embrace on the things that I really love, so I could REALLY focus on those things.

No longer do I feel like I have to say yes to everything in order to save face or people please. No longer do I allow other people and commitments dictate to me how I should live and run my life. I have discovered that I was not putting God first and my family right after. I was neglecting my home and running away from my calling as a MOM and a HOMEMAKER.

I have always been called to be those things, even has a youth. I always told my mom and my friends that I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up, the only thing I ever wanted to do was to be a Mom.

Fast forward 20+ years and I have finally made it. I no longer feel guilty about not chasing success, the corporate ladder, or keeping up with the Joneses. I have peace and knowing that raising my family full-time and keeping a home that is good and pleasing to God is where I am supposed to be.

It’s the simplest form of life that I’ve lived so far, and I am right where I am supposed to be. This year’s word is going to be the new focus of my blog, vlog (YouTube) and most of my other social media.

That means you’ll see from me more content based on simple living, decluttering, housekeeping ideas, homeschooling, minimalism, homemaking, and Christ-centered topics. These are all things that I live day in and day out, and I want my blog to be a reflection of that.

I hope you’ll come along with me as I share the true, more simpler side of myself on here! If you have a word for 2017, please let me know below or on any of my social media channels. I would love to hear what your year has in store for you!
